WEST MILFORD — Services were held for James "Hap" W. Hammell, 93, of this township, who died on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.

Mr. Hammell was a supervisor at DuPont in Pompton Lakes before retiring in 1987. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a volunteer instructor for NJ Hunter Safety & Firearms for more than 25 years. Also, he was a Boy Scout leader. And, he was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, West Milford.
Services were Monday at St. Joseph's Church. Arrangements were by the Morrison Funeral Home, Butler. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Joseph's R.C. Church, c/o Sister Janet, the Wounded Warrior Project, or Passaic Valley Hospice of Totowa. Mr. Hammell is survived by his children, Sandra Sloat, Roland Hammell, Jimmy Hammell, and Catherine Winterfield; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary; his parents, John and Elizabeth; his brothers, Thomas, Charles, and John; and his sisters, Sally and Henrietta.
