POMPTON LAKES — Services will be held for Barbara Vigorito, a resident of Wayne, who died on Thursday, July 10, 2014. She was a former resident of this community.
Born in Paterson, Mrs. Vigorito lived in Pompton Lakes before moving to Manahawkin and then to Wayne. She was a librarian before becoming a fifth-grade teacher in the Paterson public school system. Later, she taught at the Rosa Parks School for the Performing Arts before retiring. Also, she was president of the Wayne Adult Community Center.
Arrangements are by the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, or the
Mrs. Vigorito is survived by her daughters, Judith Vigorito of Whiting, Catherine Reynolds of Louisville, Ky., and Mary Roth of Millington; her sisters, Mary and Diane Leonard of Totowa; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel; her parents, Dorothy and Edward Leonard; and her brothers, John and Vince.
