WATKINS
Robert H. "Bob", 91, of Northampton, formerly of Moore Township and North Haledon, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Muhlenberg Campus of Lehigh Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Harriet H. (DeKnegt) Watkins with whom he shared 68 years of marriage on April 18th. Born in Allendale, NJ on November 17, 1922, he was a son of the late Edward and Elsie (Buthfer) Watkins. He attended Ramsey High School in NJ before enlisting in the Merchant Marines where he served during World War II. Bob enjoyed a successful career in the railroad and transportation industry initially employed at Erie Railroad and retiring from New Jersey Transit in 1983 after 37 years of service. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Harriet, he is survived by his children, Donald Watkins and his wife, Barbara of Danielsville, and Lois Turse and her husband, Brent of Walnutport; grandchildren, Matthew and Kaitlin; a sister, Grace DeKnight of Hawthorne, NJ; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his three (3) brothers. Services: will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 11 AM in the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc, 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, Village of Moorestown - Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday morning from 10 AM-11 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Moorestown. Contributions: in lieu of flowers, may be made in memory of Bob to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
