Mary Faist Obituary

Mary Elizabeth (born Kerr), 90, of Melbourne, FL passed away peacefully on July 26, 2014 in Arlington, VA.
She was born Sept 18, 1923 in Paterson, NJ. Her family moved to Ridgewood, NJ where she attended Ridgewood High School.
During World War II, she worked for the British Ministry of War Transport in New York City, administering the convoy shipments of goods to England under the Lend-Lease Program.
After the war, she worked for Furness Withy shipping company, now Cunard, in New York until her marriage to Harold Peter Faist in 1954.
She lived in Norwood, NJ for 32 years, raising her family and working from 1971 until her retirement 1986 as a leasing sales manager for Volvo of America, Rockleigh, NJ. She then moved to Leisure Knoll, Manchester Twp. NJ where she enjoyed the seaside community with friends, family, and church. In 2002, she moved to Melbourne, FL. to be closer to family.
She celebrated her 90th birthday with a New York-to-Southhampton Crossing on Cunard's Queen Mary II with her daughter, as well as visits with her family in Washington D.C., and English cousins in London.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Harold Peter Faist. Mary is survived by daughter Suzan Marie (Paul) Jagger of Goshen, CT, sons James Allan (Barbara) Faist of Arlington, VA, and Paul William Faist of Bogota, NJ. She is also survived by eight grandchildren.
Her Funeral Service will be on Friday, August 1st, at 11 AM at Christ Episcopal Church in Ridgewood, NJ followed by burial at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
