PEQUANNOCK — Services were held for Harold D. Brown Jr., 87, of the Pompton Plains section of this community, who died on Saturday, August 9, 2014.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Brown moved to Allendale in the early 1930s and then to Williamsburg, Va., in 1991 before moving to Pompton Plains in 2005. He was a commercial electrical designer. Also, he was a PM of the Fortitude Lodge and a PP of the Order of the Eastern Star Ridgewood Chapter. He was a former member of Masonic Lodge No. 6 and Wellspring United Methodist Church in Williamsburg, Va. And, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean War.

Services were Wednesday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, Wyckoff. Donations may be sent to the Masonic Home, 902 Jacksonville, Road, Burlington Township, NJ 08016; or to the Bloomingdale Animal Shelter Society, P.O. Box 24, Bloomingdale, NJ 07403.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his daughter, Sheryl Ahearn; his son, Stephen; his brother, Robert; his sister, Col. Meta Seltzer; and four grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, Donald.
