PEQUANNOCK — Services were held for Peter Westerhoff Jr., 88, of the Pompton Plains section of this community, who died on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Born in Unionville, N.Y., Dr. Westerhoff lived in Midland Park, Ridgewood, and Montville before moving to Pompton Plains in 2001. He was a doctor with a practice in Midland Park. Later, he ran the medical department at IBM, Franklin Lakes, before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Bronze Star.

Arrangements were by the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. Interment was at the First Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Plains. Donations may be sent to the , the Breast Cancer Society, or Seeing Eye Inc.

Dr. Westerhoff is survived by his children, Todd and Scott Westerhoff, Chuck O'Neal, Terry Carbone, Sandy Iaiennaro, and Greg O'Neal; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Helen Fredricks; his second wife, the former Della McMichael; his parents, Ruth and Peter Westerhoff; and his sisters, Ruth Ryan, Betty Artsma, and Bobby Mayer.
