WAYNE - Carl "Nort" Carlson, 77, of Vernon, formerly of Wayne, died Sept. 23, 2010.

Carlson was born in Paterson and lived in Wayne for 42 years before moving to Vernon.
He was a troubleshooter for Singer Kearfott prior to being employed as a driver for UPS. Prior to his retirement in 2009 he was a manager for Runyon Vending.
Carlson served in the U.S. Navy as a Sonar Man on the 777 USS Zellers during the Korean War era and was a member of Community Volunteer Fire Company #1 in Mountain View for 32 years serving as chief for two years. He was a huge N.Y. Yankee and N.Y. Giants fan.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years Dorothy (nee Parker). Father of Laura Chianchiano and her husband Peter of Vernon, Ellen Nimmo and her husband George, of Vernon, Thomas Carlson and his wife Helen of Highland Lakes, and Jennifer Contino and her husband Paul of Highland Lakes. Grandfather of Benjamin Chianchiano, currently serving in the US Navy, Peter Chianchiano, Carl Contino, and Julia Contino. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law to Albert Parker and his wife Phyllis.
He was predeceased by brother Earl, sisters Thorna Bianchi, Elizabeth Sonya, Olga Hanenberg, and Bernice Muscho, and nephew Michael Carlson.
