MASSAR Val H., Sr., 88, of Northvale and Edgewater, New Jersey, joined his beloved wife, Evelyn, on the ninth anniversary of her passing on Saturday, May 14th. He was surrounded by family, and leaves behind seven children; George and Hope Massar, Ellen and John Bourscheid, Evy and Dave Spedden, Val Massar, Jr., John Massar, Carol Massar and Jon Wilkes, and Bill and Darlene Massar, and twelve grandchildren; Rebecca, Jeremy, Raeann, Sarah, Caroline, Melissa, Val Andrew, Victoria, Cole, Anna Gabriella, Claudia and Olivia. He also leaves behind his two surviving brothers Joseph Massar and George Massar, and Milan Massar, deceased, sister-in-law Helen Hamalak, many nieces and nephews, and his extended family at Sunrise Assisted Living. Val served his country in WWII in the 3rd Army, 95th Infantry, earning a Bronze Star and receiving two purple hearts. For nearly 50 years, he enjoyed working as an aeronautical engineer. He loved his family, cherished his country, played amazing golf, and never turned down a bowl of ice cream. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday 11 AM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (201-767-3050). Visiting hours are Monday 7-9 PM and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
