POMPTON LAKES — Services were held for Donald E. Umhoefer, 79, of this community, who died on Wednesday, September 28, 2011.

Born in Paterson, Mr. Umhoefer lived in Haskell before moving to Pompton Lakes 48 years ago. He was an auto mechanic for the Borough of Pompton Lakes. Also, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Pompton Lakes. And, he was a volunteer fireman for Pompton Lakes Fire Company No. 53 and an exempt fireman.

Services were Monday at the Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale, followed by Mass at St. Mary's Church, Pompton Lakes. Interment was at Mount Rest Cemetery, Butler.

Mr. Umhoefer is survived by his wife, the former Mary Brienza; his sons, Donald and Raymond; his daughters, Jennie Yuhas, Peggy Longo, and Mary Sheridan; his brother, Edgar; his sister, Shirley McArdler; and 10 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Jennie; his brothers, Raymond, William, David, and Lenny; and his sister, Mary Ranf.
