John "Cork", 65, of Haskell, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, December 28. John was a graduate of Lakeland Regional High School, Miami Dade College, and the University of Albuquerque where he was a standout baseball player. Upon graduating, John went on to become a school teacher where he proudly taught at Wanaque School and then became an athletic director at Lakeland Regional High School.
John was a proud family man who devoted his life to his wife and children. He was the loving husband of 39 years to Dawn, devoted father to John, Joy, and Gena, and father-in-law to Tricia, Todd and Danny. He was also the proud grandfather to Steven Gary, Emma Mae, and John Joseph III. John is also survived by his sister Joan, and his father and mother-in-law Ted and Marie Robert to whom he embraced as if they were his own parents. Some of his best memories were spent with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his father and mother John Shutte and Theresa (Scorza) Shutte.
He was a dear friend to so many and beloved by all. He was a lover of all sports with a passion for baseball. In his retirement, he was a mason, a craftsman and a jack of all trades. He spent his treasured time on the golf course.
He will be loved forever, his spirit will be kept alive and he will always hold a special place in all our hearts.
Funeral from D'Agostino Funeral Home, 881 Ringwood Ave, Haskell on Monday 10:30 AM and an 11 AM Mass at St. Francis Church, Haskell. Visiting on Sunday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM
