Frank, 93, of Little Ferry, NJ. Frank Mariani was born April 7, 1919 in Ripi, Italy, a small town in the suburbs of Rome. He is the son of Vincenzo and Anna Maria (nee Crecco).
He arrived in the United States at the age of 16, with the determination to succeed and share the American dream. He was a hard worker, eager to learn and move ahead. He was a man who knew what he wanted and worked hard to achieve his ends.
At the age of 19 he married Vincenza Faustini, who was also born in Ripi and went to school with Frank. He always knew that one day he would marry, and so he did. She predeceased Frank in 1992.
Together, they began a successful life. Frank went into the restaurant business with his brother-in-law Bill and together they had built a favorite local eatery.
After selling their restaurant, Frank decided to become a builder and developer. His achievements include several industrial buildings and many custom homes in the Bergen County area. One of his proudest achievements was the building of a 22 home development in Little Ferry, NJ with his son Mario, called Mariani Drive.
Frank is survived by his loving children: his son Mario of Little Ferry and his former wife Arlene of Wood-Ridge; his daughter Anna Maria Tucci and her husband Dominick of Moonachie; his daughter Elizabeth Bassani and her husband Mario of Moonchie.. His cherished grandchildren: Michael Marini and his wife Pat of Oakland; Frank Mariani and his wife Doreen of Wyckoff; John Mariani and his wife Christine of Fair Lawn; Adrienne Mortensen and her husband Richard of Wyckoff; Dominick Tucci Jr. and his wife Marie of Ridgewood; Dianne Fiorino and her husband Michael of Hillsdale; Joseph Bassani of Moonachie; Arthur John Bassani and his wife Melissa of River Vale. He is also survived by twenty great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law Lucy, wife of his late brother Stefano. He is also predeceased by his four sisters: Amelia; Josephine; Margarita; Angelina.
Funeral from the Trinka-Faustini Funeral Service (439 Maywood Ave., Maywood, NJ 07607) at 9 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Maywood. Entombment to follow at Madonna Mausoleum, Ft. Lee, NJ. Visiting Friday 2:30-4:30 and 7-9 PM.
