Russell A., 95, of Hackensack, Born and raised in Newark to the late Alfred and Louise (nee Gerard), passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013. Before retiring Russell worked as a Draftsman for Bendix Corporation in Teterboro, NJ. Russell was an avid golfer and bowler.
Prior to entering the Army where he served our country proudly during World War II. Russsell was a Semi-Pro Baseball Player and was offered a contract by the Cardinals. One of his proudest Semi-Pro moments was being the winning pitcher versus Satchel Paige's team. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service member; a member of the Garfield Senior Club and Disabled American Veterans, the Northern Valley Chapter.
Devoted husband of Rose (nee Radzniak) for 67 years. Beloved and adored father of Linda Mc Auliffe and her husband Charles of Hackensack, Carol De Maio and her late husband Thomas of Middletown and Barbara Merkle and Jerry of Paramus. Loving grandfather of Charles and his wife Carla, Cori and her husband Kelly, Christen, Candice and her husband Gabriel, Thomas and Danielle. Loving great-grandfather of Mackenzie, Michaela, Nicholas, Julia and Gabriel. Predeceased by his sister Marie Camborious.
Daddy, your ever present smile, easy laugh, endless giving without complaint, joyous demeanor, and exemplary way of living and looking at life taught us by example. We love you more than you can ever imagine and we know you loved us the same.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113-S Farview Ave., Paramus. Funeral Service Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10 AM from the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Visitation R.C. Church, Paramus. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
In lieu of flowers the family request Masses to be purchased in his name.
