LONG
Robert W., 68, of Hawthorne, died Monday, February 4, 2013. Born in Hackensack, he had lived in Elmwood Park 19 years before moving to Hawthorne 18 years ago.
Mr. Long was the superintendent of building and grounds for the Borough of Elmwood Park for 25 years retiring in 2004.
He was a Vietnam War veteran of the Navy.
His life passion was martial arts. He owned the Bob Long School of Self Defense, Lodi, was a 10th Degree Grand Master of Martial Arts and was an inductee in the Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
Beloved husband of Annette (nee Cestaro), loving father of Brian and his wife, Denine of Saddle Brook and Melissa Burke and her husband, Robert of Elmwood Park, proud grandfather of Robert, Brett, Olivia, Collin and Brooke and dear brother of Maureen Kustos and her husband, Laszlo of Wall.
Funeral service Thursday 11 AM at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, Inc., 274 Market Street, Elmwood Park, Al Jousette celebrant. Cremation will be private. Visiting Wednesday 4-8 PM.
