ACOCELLA
Michael A., 85 formerly of Clifton died Thursday, February 14, 2013. Born in Irvington, Mike resided in North Arlington and Clifton before moving to Pompton Plains 8 years ago. A US Navy Veteran of WWII, he was employed as a carpenter for the E & R Co. of Jersey City prior to his retirement in 1989. Previously, he owned the Acocella Construction Co. in Clifton. Mike was a member of the Carpenters & Joiners Union, Local 254 in Edison. He is predeceased by his wife, the former Violet Scialampo and by a sister, Carmela Torrella. Mike is survived by two daughters, Michele Acocella of Nutley and Donna Polizzi and husband, Dennis of Wyckoff, by three grandchildren, Dennis, Marisa and Christina, by a brother, Pat Acocella of Brick and by two sisters, Marie Sabak of Clifton and Doris Perri of Wayne. Funeral services will begin 10 AM Saturday at Allwood Funeral Home, 660 Allwood Rd., Clifton, NJ 07012 with an 11 AM Mass at Queen of Peace RC Church in North Arlington. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday 4-8 PM. Memorial donations to Queen of Peace R.C. Church will be appreciated. www.allwoodfuneralhome.com
