SALTARELLI
Sophie (nee Straten), passed away on May 5, 2013. Born in Hoboken, NJ, in 1929, Sophie was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Straten, and the sibling of Alan Straten, Dennis Straten, the late Thomas Straten, Barbara Caliguire, and the late Ronald Caliguire. She was predeceased by her husband Patrick Saltarelli and her daughter Beverly, survived by her children Rick Saltarelli (wife Donna), Anthony Saltarelli, Barbara Saltarelli and Debra Meisch. Sophie had six grandchildren, Amanda Saltarelli, Kenny Lankton, David Hall and Charles, Laura Beth and Lindsay Meisch. Sophie also had three great-grandchildren. Sophie was raised by her beloved Aunt and Uncle, the late Mary Straten and the late Frank Grigna in Hoboken and attended Demarest High School. Sophie married and a few years later moved to Jersey City and settled on Greenville Ave and then Linden Ave where she was a member of St. Paul's Parish. Sophie worked at Great Eastern and Pathmark in Jersey City before moving to Naples, Florida in 1982. Little Sophie, all 4'10" of her was full of life and lived it to the fullest. She was always on the go. She loved bowling, and was still bowling even at her advanced age. You could find her singing karaoke and playing shuffleboard at the VFW hall near her home in Florida. She loved to play the slots and went to Vegas every year. She loved to play bingo, uno, yahtzee and po-ke-no with her family and friends. She worked many different jobs in Florida just to keep busy, most recently at St. Matthew's Thrift Store. Sophie was an avid animal lover, providing a loving and caring home to her many pets over the years. She will be missed by many, forgotten by none. Visitation will be provided by Routh Funeral Home LLC at the Greenville Memorial Home, 374 Danforth Ave, Jersey City, NJ on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 4-8 PM. Funeral Service will be provided by Routh Funeral Home LLC at Greenville Memorial Home on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 10 AM. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
