Obituary Condolences

A Mass for former township resident Thomas A. Stanley will be offered Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 16 Blue Mill Road, New Vernon, N.J. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover.

Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main St., Madison.

Mr. Stanley, 68, died Aug. 1 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City

Born in Montclair, he lived in East Orange, Millburn Township and Berkeley Heights, before moving to Kirkland, Wash., 17 years ago. He also maintained a residence in Spring Lake.

Mr. Stanley was a self-employed building contractor. He owned Knollwood Construction in Berkeley Heights and Kirkland for many years before retiring 10 years ago. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an active volunteer at Holy Family Church in Kirkland.

Mr. Stanley is survived by his wife, Susan Dumais; two daughters, Christine Preston and Samantha Elliott; four brothers, Paul, Peter, John, and Jerome; three sisters, Barbara Fritts, Suzanne McCarthy and Rosemary Carrara; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Benedict's Preparatory School, 520 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Newark, NJ, 07103.
