Allan, of Tucson, Arizona, died on July 26th after a long illness. Mr. Arnowitz was born on June 27, 1926 in Paterson.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lois "Lonni" Sperber of Paterson. He was also predeceased by his companion of over 20 years, Alexandra Channing of Tucson.
Mr. Arnowitz was a graduate of Central High School in Paterson, and Rutgers University Newark. He was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Arnowitz spent much of his working life as an estimator for a variety of paving and construction companies in New Jersey and New York, and launched a number of his own ventures, including Sites and Structures, Inc., and Allan Arnowitz, Inc., construction companies, and Bid-It! Inc., an estimating Service. He relocated to Tucson, Arizona in 1981 where he continued his work in construction and In the copper mining industry. Mr. Arnowitz held a number of positions while living in Tucson, including the Streets Inspector for Marana, AZ.
Mr. Arnowitz is survived by two sons: Randy Arnowitz of Santa Barbara, California and Mark Arnowitz of West Milford, New Jersey; a daughter-in-law, Brenda, and three grandchildren, Samuel, Ethan, and Emma, all of West Milford.
Mr. Arnowitz' varied interests included oil painting, writing, political science and economics. He was a member of the Rutgers University Alumni Association. He was also a member of the Association for Total Cost Management.
Allan Arnowitz will truly be missed by those who knew him best: his family, his neighbors, as well as his colleagues in his professional life. Those wishing to honor his life may make a donation in his name to The National Veterans Foundation at NVF.org.
