Michael Ernst Obituary
Michael P., age 43, of Fredon, NJ, died Monday, April 20, 2015. Michael was born in Paterson and grew up in Wyckoff. He was a 1989 graduate of Ramapo High School and received his BA from the University of South Carolina before entering the military and settling his family in Fredon, NJ, 4 years ago. Michael was a 1st Class Petty Officer for the U.S. Navy and had a career that spanned 20 years including Operation Enduring Freedom and the Afghan/Iraq war. He is survived by his loving wife, Khemwika, his son, Jonathan, his parents, Harold and Margaret Ernst, his sisters, Deborah Herman and her husband, George, and Michelle Johnson and her husband, Tony. Also surviving are his nephews and nieces, Andrew and Daniel Herman, Ty and Sydney Johnson, and Abigail and Zoe Neves and he will be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 26th from 1-4 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or the St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.

Although I did not know Michael, our family has known Michaels's sister, Michelle who has become very much a part of my family over the years.
