John Mustion

MUSTION
John Morris, born February 5, 1939 in Ellenville, NY, passed away on October 21, 2016, in North Palm Beach, FL. John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet (McMahon) Mustion; his four children, Loren, Sheryl, John Jr., Glenn; and, his nine grandchildren. John was the oldest of William and Charlotte (DeLong) Mustion's five children.
An outstanding athlete, John played three varsity sports in high school, and during football games, played the clarinet in the band at halftime wearing his football uniform. John was awarded an athletic scholarship to Syracuse University, playing both basketball and baseball for the Orangemen, and earned a degree in economics. John signed a baseball contract with the Phillies and also played for the Dodgers and Mets minor league organizations. He was one of only three players to hit a home run out of Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia, and was twice awarded the Topps Minor League Player of the Month. John, a Chartered Life Underwriter, enjoyed a long career in the financial services industry with CIGNA and Lincoln Financial. John and Janet lived for 48 years in the Ramsey Golf & Country Club in Ramsey, NJ. He served on the RG&CC board of directors in several capacities including President and was an avid golfer.
Above all, John was a husband, father and community member; loved by his wife and cherished by his children, neighbors and friends. He was fondly known as "Chief," due in part to his Native American heritage, dark good looks and commanding presence. He was a caring, considerate, and a gentle man. He greeted everybody with a big smile and knew everyone's name. He was always available to talk or lend a helping hand. John was larger than life.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 200 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, NJ on Saturday, November 26th at 11 AM. Guests are invited to a reception immediately following the mass at the Ramsey Golf & Country Club.
