Clarence Smit Obituary
Clarence, age 94, of Wayne on December 26, 2016. Born in The Netherlands, Clarence immigrated to the United States in 1950 and settled in Wayne before moving to Haledon 10 years ago. He was a self-employed accountant and retired in 2007. He was a member of the Unity Christian Reformed Church, Prospect Park, NJ.
Beloved Husband of the late Jeanette Smit (2007). Devoted father of George Smit of Georgia, Clarence Smit of Florida, Florence Wyder of North Carolina, Geri Vooys of Bloomingdale, Karen Ingenito of New Milford, Michael Smit of Connecticut, Marilyn Vera of California, Cheryl Moses of Wyckoff and the late James Smit (2001). Dear grandfather of 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Clarence is survived by 6 brothers and sisters and predeceased by 9 siblings.
The family will receive their friends on Wednesday from 4-8PM at the Vander Plaat - Vermeulen Memorial Home 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Funeral Service at Unity Christian Reformed Church on Thursday at 10 AM. Interment Laurel Grove Memorial Park.
Donations may be made in Clarence's memory to the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Ave., North Haledon, NJ
