GRASSO - Mario B., of Chestnut Ridge, NY entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, November 26, 2004 at the Hackensack Medical Center. He was 76 years old. Mr. Grasso was born on February 16, 1928, the youngest of 13 children born to Joseph and Maria (nee Libera) Grasso in the Bronx where he was raised and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII. Mario married Helen Murray in September of 1950 at St. Mary's Church in the Bronx. He started his career as an operating engineer with the Railroad Maintenance Corporation and was promoted to General Manager of the corporation. A position which he held for 40 years. He is survived by his adoring children and their spouses, Gerri and her husband Tom; Michele and her husband Scott; Stephanie and her husband Ken; Mario and his wife Donna and Christopher and his wife Nancy; his loving brothers Anthony and Attilio and his sister Gilda; his cherished grandchildren, Mario, Hollie, Katie, Nicole, Mallory, Nicholas, Paul, Denise, Alexander, Kristian, Alexander, Michael, Dominick and Courtney and his "adopted children". He is predeceased by his wife of 50 years Helen; she died on November 15, 2000 and nine brothers and sisters. All who knew Mario were touched by his caring and kindness as well as his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 29, 2004 at 10 AM at the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ. With the Entombment to follow in Ascension Cemetery. His family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY.
