Catherine E. Conrad(1916 - 2014)

Catherine E. Conrad November 25, 1916 - April 9, 2014 DAYVILLE - Catherine (Kay) Elizabeth Conrad, 97, died peacefully at home on April 9, 2014. Catherine was the third child born to Stanley and Anna (Dziurgot) Kokernak. Kay was born in Webster on November 25, 1916, and later moved to Worcester. She graduated from North High School in 1933 and moved to Killingly in 1949. Kay worked as a waitress, a bookkeeper, and managed a boarding house in VT. She also worked for Miss Leach's Nursery School in Danielson. With her husband, Kay developed mobile home parks in Killingly and bought other rental properties which she managed. Catherine is survived by her daughters Anne Cunningham of Sedona, AZ, Andrea Cunningham of Abington, Carolyn (Christopher) Mathewson of Danielson; her brother Frank (Ann) Kokernak of Shrewsbury, MA and sister Marion Ushinski of Webster, MA. She was predeceased by her brothers Anthony, Edward, John, Joseph, Felix and sisters Dorothy, Alicia and Elizabeth. Her husband Carrol (Pop) Conrad died in 2009. Kay also leaves six grandchildren, Michael Normington (Denise) of Austin, TX, Dr. Noel McClure of Phoenix, AZ, Elena (Chad) Thurston of Gilbert, AZ, Attorney Marshall (Dr. Adrienne) Pahl of Waterville, VT, SFC Daniel (Kim) Normington of El Paso, TX and Dr. Myriah Pahl of Brooklyn, NY; her great grandchildren include Jonah, Marcus, Greta, Evangeline, Alyssa, Seth, Kariah and Karalynn. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Catherine's family on Sunday, April 13, 6 to 8 P.M. at Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Danielson, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M., Monday, April 14 in St. James Church, 12 Franklin St., Danielson, CT. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Webster, MA In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. James School, 12 Franklin St., Danielson, CT 06239.
