Charles F. DeClerck Jr. September 23, 1922 - January 31, 2013 Williamsburg, VA - Charles F. DeClerck Jr, 90, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, January 31st, 2013. He was born on September 23, 1922 in Somerville, MA to the late Charles F. and Frances L. (Clarke) DeClerck. Mr. DeClerck is survived by his three children, Maureen Moreno and her husband Frank of Kennebunk, ME, Charles DeClerck and his wife Beth of Williamsburg, VA and Jeffrey DeClerck and his wife Colleen of Moosup. Additionally, there are eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. DeClerck was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 62 years, Jeanne, his brother Jack, his sister Lorraine, and two sons John and Kenneth. A 1940 graduate of Quincy High School, he enlisted in the US Navy
as an Aviation Machinist's Mate. Later selected for flight training, he was stationed at the University of Georgia
and Naval Air Station, Memphis, TN training in the N3N-3 (Yellow Peril), the N2S Stearman, the Navy SNJ, and the PB4y Catalina. He had the chance to relive those days on his 90th birthday when his family arranged for him to take a ride in a 1942 WACO ZPF-7 biplane where he got to take the controls once again. Starting out as a tool designer with Watertown Arsenal, Mr. DeClerck worked his way up to a senior executive with Sperry Gyroscope (later Unisys Corp.). Even in retirement, he kept busy running his own computer consultant business. Funeral from Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Danielson on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 9:00 A.M. followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of LaSalette Church, Brooklyn. Burial with military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M.
