Dennis William Gardner Died - February 20, 2013 Norwich - Dennis William Gardner, beloved husband of Joan (Mulally) Gardner, passed away at home on February 20, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer. Dennis was 65 years old and had been a resident of Norwich his entire life. He was the oldest son of the late Frank William Gardner and the late Nellie (Radvilowitz) Gardner. Dennis is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan, and two sons, Paul J. Gardner and Marc W. Gardner and his wife Alicia. He was very proud of his five grandchildren, Kirsten (Gardner) Eaton and her husband Adam, Bryant Gardner, Andrew Gardner, Kelsey Gardner and Noah Gardner. He was extremely delighted to be the proud great grandfather of Sophia Grace and Olivia Paige Eaton. He is also survived by two brothers, Douglas Gardner and his wife Lillian and Gary Gardner and his wife Linda, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Karen (Mulally) Clymer, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his best friend Fenway, an Old English Sheepdog, who truly was by his side to the very end. Den attended Norwich Technical High School and graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1965. He also attended Thames Valley Technical College. He worked as an Engineering Analyst at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford and at Mohegan Sun Casino after his retirement. He received numerous recognitions for his dedication to his job, his accurate and detailed planning, and his creative ideas and suggestions. Den will be remembered for his caring soul, his unique sense of humor, and his devotion to his family and friends. He was an avid Red Sox, Celtics, UCONN and Patriots fan and the saying "Wait â€˜til next year" was his favorite fall and winter comment! He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and spending time in his well manicured yard. Labenski Funeral Home on Boswell Avenue in Norwich is in charge of final arrangements. Calling hours will be on Sunday February 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. The funeral mass of Christian burial will be held at Sts Peter and Paul Church on Elizabeth Street in Norwich at 11:00 A.M.
