Edward Duprey, Jr. March 25, 1932 - April 24, 2013 Voluntown - Edward J. Duprey, Jr., 81, passed away Wednesday evening April 24, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 25, 1932 in Norwich, CT son to the late Edward J. and Rose (Leclaire) Duprey, Sr. On November 30, 1957 at St. Mary's Church in Norwich he was married to Elizabeth (Lane) Duprey. She predeceased him on April 6, 2011. Edward was a US Army
Veteran having served in the Korean War
. He last worked at the Mohegan Sun. He coached and umpired baseball in the Jewett City and Sprague Little League for many years. Edward loved the Red Sox and the Women's UCONN Huskies. His favorite actor was Gene Autry. He loved to watch western movies and loved western music. He enjoyed going fishing. He is a communicant of St. Thomas Church and previously served there as a Eucharist Minister. He was an EMMAUS member and helped with staffing retreats. He sang with the Griswold Senior Chorus and was a member of the Voluntown Senior Center. Edward is survived by his three sons Joe Duprey of Colorado, John Duprey and his wife Lori of Sterling, and Kenneth Duprey and his wife Ivy of Voluntown, a brother Wilfred Duprey and his wife Sheila of Norwich, four grandchildren Lisa Hall, Abigail Duprey, Jacob Duprey, and Kylie Duprey, and two great grandchildren. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his son James Duprey and a sister Theresa Smith. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00AM Monday April 29, 2013 at St. Thomas Church in Voluntown, CT. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Griswold, CT. The Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT has been entrusted with arrangements.
