Edward Vincent Stacey Sr

Edward Vincent Stacey, Sr. Dec. 25, 1923 - Apr. 10, 2014 JEWETT CITY - Edward Vincent Stacey, Sr., 90, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at his home in Jewett City. He was born on Christmas day, 1923 in Norwich Connecticut to Ignatz Stasiewski and Mary Bosurik Stasiewski. Ed grew up in Norwich and attended school. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and served for three years. He proudly served his country in World War II in Northern and Southern France and Normandy and was the recipient of three Bronze Battle Stars until his discharge in 1945. Upon returning stateside, he worked at various jobs until beginning his career at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division. He held a number of pipefitter roles until his retirement as a Nuclear Quality Control Inspector, after 38 years with the company. Ed married Alice Arremony in Baltimore, Maryland in 1954. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Ed was a member of Pipefitters Union and enjoyed do-it-yourself projects, furniture restoration and building. He mostly enjoyed activities and spending time with his family and particularly with his three grandchildren. Ed is survived by his wife, Alice, of Jewett City his daughter Susan Stacey and husband Michael Perkins of Franklin, MA and son, Edward Stacey, Jr., and wife Gail of Glastonbury; his sisters Stasia Kramarewicz of Westerly, RI and Madeline Pankiewicz of Colchester; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Stacey, Scott Stacey, and Jenielle Perkins; and two great grandchildren, Evie Stacey and August Stacey, and many nieces and nephews. Ed was very proud of his service in the military and has the utmost respect for those in the armed forces. He loved to travel and visited 49 of the 50 states and traveled to a number of exotic places; Australia, New Zealand and China to name a few. A visitation will be held at the Leffler Funeral Home, 30 North Main St., Jewett City, CT from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Sunday, April 13, 2014. A memorial service will be held at Saint Mary's Church, North Main St., Jewett City, CT on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. A burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
