James F. "Hank" Carroll

James F. "Hank" Carroll September 30, 1923-November 17, 2013 Plainfield - James F. "Hank" Carroll, 90, of Sterling Rd. Moosup beloved husband of Alice (Gravelin) Carroll passed away early Sunday morning at W.W. Backus Hospital, Norwich. He was born September 30, 1923 in Providence, RI a son of the late Edward B. and Mary (Allen) Carroll and resided in Moosup for most of his life. Mr. Carroll was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed as a Millwright at the former Pervel Industries for 33 years, retiring in 1988. Mr. Carroll was a member of VFW Post 5446, Plainfield and a member of the Danielson Lodge of Elks. He was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and UCONN girls basketball fan. He enjoyed vacationing with his family to Cape Cod, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. He was loved by all children and animals. Mr. Carroll was a staunch Catholic and communicant of All Hallows Church, Moosup. Hank was a solid father, husband, brother and friend with a heart of gold. Hank truly is an angel now guarding and smiling down on us all. We love him dearly and will greatly miss him. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Charlene Carroll Filice and her husband Leroy of Sterling and Paula Carroll Malboeuf of Canterbury; a grandson who was the apple of his eye James Nicholas Filice of Sterling; a sister Jean (Carroll) Lukin of RI. Also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers Edward J. "Ted", Thomas "Tom", Richard "Dick" and Gerald "Hooker" Carroll. A Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to ECHO, 330 Washington St. Suite 220, Norwich, CT. 06360. Dougherty Bros.
