John William Chaput

John William Chaput February 7, 1981 - May 7, 2013 Manchester - John William Chaput, 32, of Manchester, born February 7, 1981, died on May 7, 2013 at Hartford Hospital after a short illness. John is survived by his beloved wife Jennifer (Skerritt) Chaput, his mother Cheryl Barszcz of Ledyard, his father and stepmother George W. and Carol Chaput of Norwich, his best friend Andrew Bacon, his brother Kevin Chaput, half-sister Tanya Chaput, half-brother Matthew Pierce, mother-in-law and father-in-law Lori and Michael Cebula, stepsisters, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was well loved by all. John loved politics and found great satisfaction in helping people through his work with the State Legislature and the House Democrats. He was the clerk of the Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee, and a legislative aide to Representative Patricia M. Widlitz. He was also an alternate member of the Town of Manchester Planning and Zoning Committee. He loved camping, hiking, and sailing, and worked his way through high school aboard schooners Argia and Mystic Whaler, and the Steamboat Sabino of Mystic. The Demonstration Squad Junior Volunteer program at Mystic Seaport was begun because of him, when he wanted to volunteer before he was old enough to work. He also loved technology and all the latest gadgets, eclectic styles of music, and listening to and seeing comedy shows. He was funny and generous and loved to cook. He especially loved his wife, Jennifer, whom he married on March 16, 2013. We would like to thank the staff at Hartford Hospital, especially the C9I Neurology ICU, for their dedicated care and kindness to John and his family.
