Martin J. Purcell Died - March 12, 2013 Mystic - Martin J. Purcell, 55, of Mystic, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. Born in Groton he was the son of the late Thomas F. Purcell and Joan (Sullivan) Purcell and lived in Mystic since 1974. He was an Acoustic Tech Aid with Electric Boat for 32 years. Martin enjoyed watching all sporting events, especially the NY Yankees & the UCONN men and women's basketball teams as well as the CT Sun. He also was an avid bowler. Martin leaves his three children, Tabatha Neiman of Gales Ferry and Shannon Neiman of Norfolk, VA and Dan Xavier of Ashford; four siblings, Anne Goselin and her husband, Timothee, of Uncasville, Thomas F. Purcell Jr. of Ansonia, Joan Purcell of Mystic and Mary Renski and her husband, Benedict, of Ledyard; his grandmother, Marie Sullivan of Mystic; three grandchildren, Alyvia Neiman, Bryce Gagnon, and Keana Conyers who were the love of his life; five nieces, Jennifer Goselin, Marie Viesemer, Eva and Emily Renski and Liz Paradis; a nephew, Timothee Goselin Jr.; and his former wife and best friend, Pam Purcell of Mystic. His family will receive friends Friday, March 15th from 5-8 P.M. at the Mystic Funeral Home Route 1 Mystic. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church 69 Groton Long Point Rd. Groton. Burial will be private.
