Richard H. Rector Sr.

Richard H. Rector Sr. December 15, 1929 - August 23, 2013 NORWICH - Richard H. Rector Sr., "GG", 83, entered the arms of the Lord on Friday while at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in New Britain on December 15, 1929 to the late Michael and Ruth (O'Neil) Rector. He joined the Army where he served honorably for 22 years. After his military retirement he worked as a foreman for Black & Decker for 20 years. Richard loved to play cards and dice, watch his Red Sox and cause trouble which became his nickname. What he loved most however, was spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his daughter; Shirley and her fiance Ken, sister; Rose Kreiger, grandchildren; Theresa and her husband Sean, Steven and his fiance Ashley, his great-grandson Brett, several nieces and nephews and his former wife and best friend, Ruth. He was predeceased by his son; Richard Jr., and brothers; Roger, Michael, Frank, Donald and Kenneth Rector and his sister; Ruth Acevado. Visitation will be held this evening from 7 P.M.-9 P.M. at Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich. Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 10 A.M. at the funeral home with procession to Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich for interment with Military Honors.
