Richard J. Januszko

Richard J. Januszko January 21, 1923 - November 29, 2012 Jewett City - Richard J. Januszko, 89, died on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at William W. Backus Hospital. Born on January 21, 1923 in Norwich, he was the son of the late Walter Januszko and Sarah (Mioduszewski) Januszko. Richard was a World War II Veteran serving honorably in the United States Army Air Corps. He was united in marriage to Alice (O'Day) Januszko in Worcester, MA on June 6, 1949. They were married for 63 years. She survives him. Richard was the owner of Eddie's Market in Jewett City. He was an active member of the community holding membership in the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 10004, and served as a member on the Board of Finance. In addition, he was a Corporator at Jewett City Savings Bank and served as Commissioner of Jewett City Department of Public Utilities. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his son, Michael Janusko and wife, Claudia of Rocky Hill; daughters, Susan (Janusko) Caron and husband, Charles of Griswold and Patricia (Janusko) Kacevich and husband Joseph of Southborough, MA; sister, Irene Watt of West Hartford; grandchildren, Matthew Caron and wife, Kristen, Kathleen Kacevich, Sarah Kacevich, Emily Janusko, and Alexander Janusko; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth "Libby" Caron and Zachary Caron; and numerous nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by sisters, Julia Czachorowski, Anna Parzych, and Helen Wienslaw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at St. Mary's Church, Jewett City with visitation held prior from 10:30 A.M. -11:45 A.M. at Leffler Funeral Home 30 N.
