Rose Van Blaricom

Rose Van Blaricom Died - September 30, 2012 South Windsor - Rose (Ratnecht) Van Blaricom, 95 of Vernon, beloved mother, sister grandmother and great grandmother passed away at her home on Sunday morning, September 30, 2012 at home. Born in Passaic, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Bernarditz) Ratnecht. She returned to Oakdale, in the 1960's after living over 30 years in Hamilton, MO with her late husband Levi Perry Van Blaricom. She was active in the Hamilton American Legion Auxiliary, as well as the New London SubVets. Her strong will and inner strength inspired all who met her and she always encouraged others to strive to do their very best. Rose is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann Hazzard and her husband, Jim of South Windsor, four grandchildren, Brenda Carlson of Muskegon, MI, Brian Smith and wife, Cherie of Zeeland, MI, Eric Hazzard of Baltimore, MD, Lyndsey Hazzard of Wethersfield, two great grandchildren, Arron and Alaina Carlson of Muskegon, MI, her sister, Frances Malchiodi of Oakdale, and brother, Tony Ratnecht and wife, Mary of Pearl River, NY along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter, Carol Ann Smith, and three brothers, John, Louie and Charlie. In respect of her wishes, no funeral services will be held. A private burial will be held for family members only. A Celebration of her Life will be held and announced at a later date. The Hazzard family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Welles Country Village and Utopia ALSA. Special thanks go to her loving compassionate companion, Mary Jane, and her private aides who so lovingly cared for Rose with dignity and respect, along with the nurses and staff at VNA Nursing Association.
