Sandra L. Barry(1957 - 2014)

Sandra L. Barry Jun. 26, 1957 - Mar. 5, 2014 Norwich - Born in Hartford, Sandy went to Fields Memorial school in Bozrah and graduated from NFA while living in Norwich. In 1971 Sandy became the youngest person to receive L-Dopa to treat a rare hereditary disorder, Dopamine-responsive dystonia. Her entire life was spent dealing with this disorder and battling people's mis-perceptions of her condition. Sandy proudly converted to Judaism 20-plus years ago, taking the Hebrew name Rivka. Sandy is survived by her mother Marion Despres, sister Katherine Hillman, and brother Tim all of Arizona as well as her brother Todd Hamm of Norwich and several nieces and nephews. She loved her family dearly and would do anything for them. Sandy cared deeply about the those in need; especially those with disabilities. Ever the artist, Sandy loved making wreathes and floral arrangements as well as decorating her home for the holidays and changing seasons. Her thoughtfulness, quick wit, and incredible sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her. No kinder heart anywhere exists. After a hard life Lovey is now at rest in her Nana's warm loving embrace and heaven is a much better place. Grave side service 10:00 A.M. tomorrow at Hebrew Benevolent #3, Middle Road, Preston, CT. Church & Allen Funeral Home handling arrangements. A memorial scholarship in Sandy's name has been set up and donations are greatly appreciated.
