Thomas O. McConnell Sr.

Thomas O. McConnell, Sr. January 6, 1964 - June 12, 2013 NORWICH - Thomas O. McConnell, Sr., of Main Street in Baltic, died on June 12 at Backus Hospital. He was 49. Thomas was born on January 6, 1964 in Norwich, Connecticut, one of four children blessed to Harold and Yvonne (Adams) McConnell. After attending Norwich Technical High School, Thomas entered the printing business and worked for a number of area companies. His experience in the printing industry was highly valued and his many talents allowed him to quickly climb the ranks into management. Most recently, Thomas served as a supervisor for Allied Printing in Manchester. Despite the challenges of a third-shift schedule and a 100-mile work commute, Thomas always found the time to go fishing, share moments with his grandchildren, or take to the road on his beloved Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was an avid pool player and never shied away from a friendly game of darts. He had a tendency to be the loudest fellow in the room, but those who were near the sound were undoubtedly having the most fun; there was never a dull moment with Thomas. For many years, Thomas was a loyal member of the Maennerchor Club in Taftville and the Silver Star Athletic Club in Norwich. He was the loving husband of Kelly (Elton) McConnell. He is also survived by his two sons, Thomas O. McConnell, Jr. of California and Joshua Edward McConnell of Baltic; two daughters, Andrea McConnell of Willimantic and Christy Burt of Norwich; brother Billy McConnell of Baltic; sisters Terri Bolik of Rhode Island and Suzy McConnell of Moosup; and ten grandchildren, Karisa, Wesley, Marli, Joey, Alarick, Severyn, Reiannon, Autumn, Madeline and Kade. Friends and family knew that Thomas never enjoyed saying goodbye. Those closest to him will always remember his distinct farewell phrase -"See‘ya, love‘ya, bye!"
