Walter Frank Kruszewski January 14, 1918 - November 13, 2012 Uncasville - Walter Frank Kruszewski, "Uncle Walt" 94, of Uncasville, passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2012 at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. Walter was born January 14, 1918 in Uncasville, CT., the son of the late Peter P. and Frances (Krystopik) Kruszewski. Walter attended local schools and during the depression worked with the Civil Conservation Corp in Colorado. He was a retired U.S. Merchant Marine who traveled extensively throughout the world. During his lengthy career he visited ports of call in particular Vietnam where he delivered ammunition to U.S. military servicemen during the war. He is survived by two sister-in-laws, Edith Staplin Kruszewski with whom he made his home, Mary Kruszewski of Middletown, Edith's niece and his caregiver, Candice M. Antrop, of Quaker Hill and her family and other Kruszewski relatives. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 23rd at 11 A.M. in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, CT.
