Alfred P. Lamperelli October 24, 1924 - May16, 2013 Mystic - Alfred P. Lamperelli, age 91, passed away on May16, 2013 at the Pendleton Nursing and Rehabilitation Hospital. He was born on October 24, 1924 in Norwich and lived in Uncasville since 1957. While serving in WWII and touring the United States with the Army/Air Force Band to promote the sale of U.S. Savings Bonds, he met his wife, Elizabeth Josephine Lewis, of Sioux City Iowa. They married several months prior to his honorable discharge in Rockville, IL and were married for 47 years before her death in 1989. They are survived by their sons Richard of Uncasville and Gary of Sunrise, FL, daughter-in-law Dee and grandchildren Elizabeth, Timothy and Christopher. Alfred's surviving brother, Val Lamperelli of Uncasville and their additional brothers became very well-known in New England as performers and the proprietors of the 7-Brothers Lamperelli Restaurant and Lounge in New London. Alfred also sang and played trumpet with the Lamperelli Second Generation wedding band for a professional career lasting well over 30 years. He contracted as bugler with the CT National Guard in excess of 20 years for military funeral services. He received a humanitarian award for his volunteer entertaining services at several area convalescent homes for many years. Private funeral services will take place on Monday, May 20, 2013 at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Norwich, at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested any donations be made directly to the Connecticut Humane Society, in Quaker Hill, CT.

What a fabulous guy. I had a reapir station in Norwich and he would stop in from time to time. He was fun to talk to and had lots of stories. On this Memorial Day weekend, it is right to thank him and all the other for protecting this country. Great guy and we will all miss him. Our condolances to all his family and friends. I pray for the day that thinking of him will put a smaile on everyone's face. God Speed

To Rich,
My condolences to you and your family on your father's passing. Though I never met him, he sounds like the kind of person I would have enjoyed meeting. May all the wonderful memories you have of him help you through this sad time. Your parents are together again. May the heavens be lively with his music and all the angels sing & dance in celebration of his life.
Blessed be...

Richard and Gary:
I extend my deepest sympathies for the loss of your father.
As you know, Gary, you and I were schoolmates in junior and senior high school, so I knew your Dad in the 60's and 70's during our formative years.
I always enjoyed being in the company of your father, whether at your house, picnics, parties, trips (Rocky Point), the Club, or any other venue.
Your Dad made me feel welcome any time I was at your house. He made me laugh especially when he would interact with us. At other times he needed to discipline you boys and that was no laughing matter!
I also remember your Dad practicing his trumpet during the day where we neighbors could enjoy the music.
There were times when your Dad would give me wise counsel, sometimes in the presence of my own father.
I distinctly remember the love and care he showed your mother when we were around. Al demonstrated his ultimate love for his wife when he cared for her during her illness.
When my father was ill and did not have long to live, your dad was a true friend to him. My father respected and thought "very highly" of your dad.
When my mom was in the nursing home, your dad would visit her. In fact, your dad had his own ministry where he would visit the lonely and isolated people in various nursing homes. He would share his musical talents and wonderful personality with all people who were fortunate enough to know him.
I could say much more about the beautiful memories your father gave me as a young person growing up. He was truly an inspiration.
One last time I was given the grace to be with your father. Not too long ago I visited Al in the hospital. I talked to him. We shared a very tender moment and he smiled at me. He touched me deeply.
May your father's soul rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Jerry Monahan
