Christopher G. Atsales Sr. June 28, 1932 - December 20, 2013 BROOKLYN - Christopher George (Joe) Atsales Sr., age 81 of Brooklyn died Friday at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was born in Brooklyn on June 28, 1932, son of the late George and Evagelia (Kotsoumaris) Atsales. He was the husband of Viola Doris (Ritchie) Atsales. They were married December 19, 1960. Mr. Atsales served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the National Defense Medal. He worked for forty years as a nuclear pipe grinder at Electric Boat in Groton. He was a member of The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Danielson. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Christopher G. Atsales Jr. and wife Linda of Brooklyn, Linda Ball of Brooklyn, and Janet Young and husband Hillary of Putnam; sisters, Viola Coutras of Windham, Betsy McConnell of Rockville, Beatrice Gotsis of Brooklyn, Helen Bessette of Canterbury, Alice Theodore of Brooklyn and Mary Chubbuck of Middletown, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Christine Pena and brothers, Charles and Marino Atsales and brother-in-law Peter Theodore. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 80 Water, Street, Danielson, CT. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. A calling hour will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M.
