Eugene Speck Obituary

Eugene W. Speck June 7, 1925 - September 4, 2013 Norwich - Eugene W. Speck, 88 passed away peacefully September 4, 2013 at Backus Hospital. Born June 7, 1925 in RI to William and Mamie Speck, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alice (Duch) Speck. Eugene was a WWII Navy veteran serving in the Philippines. He was a 7th degree Grange member, a life member of the No. Stonington Fire Dept, past president of the Assoc of CT fairs. Eugene retired as a No. Stonington rural route mail carrier in 1989. Eugene was a much loved volunteer at Backus Hospital for 14 years. There are no calling hours, graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Backus Hospital Volunteer Department C/O Backus Hospital Development Office, 326 Washington Street, Norwich, CT 06360; (860)823-6325.
