Harry Abramchuk Obituary

Harry Abramchuk June 13, 1917 - January 20, 2013 LEDYARD - Harry Abramchuk, 95, passed away on Sunday at Fairview Odd Fellows Home in Groton. He was born on June 13, 1917 in New York, NY to the late Paul and Mary (Danyluk) Abramchuk. He served in the US Army. On September 3, 1949 he married the former Jenny Dubatowka at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Norwich. She predeceased him on Jan. 23. 2007. Harry worked as an automobile mechanic throughout his life and could fix anything mechanical. He loved to fish and be around the water. Many times he could be found repairing a friend's boat motor for them. He is survived by his son; Harry J. Abramchuk of Ledyard, daughter; Lynn A. Rodman of Needham, MA, sister; Dorothy Faulise-Doucette, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother; Theodore Abramchuk. Calling hours will be held tonight from 4 P.M.-6 P.M. at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT. Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wm. Backus Hospital Foundation, 326 Washington St., Norwich, CT 06360.
