Jean Elizabeth Roscoe

Jean Elizabeth (Wilber) Roscoe May 13, 1925 - July 28, 2013 Norwich - Jean Elizabeth (Wilber) Roscoe, of Norwich passed away at home on July 28, 2013 after a long illness. She was born on May 13, 1925 in Norwich to the late James Francis Wilber II and Palma Eleanora Hansen Wilber. She married her loving husband Stephen E. Roscoe on June 19, 1948. They were married for nearly 60 years before his passing in 2008. Jean was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Norwich in 1939. The church was a very important part of her life. She was a graduate from NFA class of 1943. She earned her RN from the William W. Backus School of Nursing. As a member of the Cadet Nurse Corp, she would have been commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation in 1946 if the war had not ended. She was a Mayflower descendant and member of the Elder William Brewster Society. Jean leaves behind a daughter Carol Roscoe Sterk and her husband Stewart of Mamaroneck, NY, granddaughters Lauren B. Sterk and Diana K. Sterk of Manhattan, a brother James Francis Wilber III of Enfield and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may the First Baptist Church of Norwich, 239 West Main Street, on Wednesday from 9:30 until the time of the Service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
