Jeremiah J. Dunbar Died - February 3, 2013 Ledyard - Jeremiah "Jerry" J. Dunbar, 66, of Ledyard, beloved husband of 47 years to Catherine (McNutt) Dunbar passed away Sunday, February 3,, 2013 after complications from heart failure. Born in New London, he was the son of the late Everett and Salvatora (Impelleteri) Dunbar and was a resident of Ledyard since 1988. He was a graduate of Fitch High School class of 1964 and attended the Hartford Institute of Accounting. Jerry was an accountant and spent his entire working career with General Dynamics since the age of 19. He recently retired in 2012 after his health started to decline rapidly. Football was Jerry's greatest passion and favorite sport. He was a former captain of the Fitch High School football team and a past President of the "F" Club. Jerry also enjoyed gardening, fishing and boating. His family will deeply miss their "Poppa" as he was affectionately known. In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Robert E. Dunbar of Ledyard; sisters, Margaret Morang and her husband, David, of Jewett City and Rosalie Ortiz of Waynesboro, GA; a brother, Michael Dunbar and his wife, Mimi, of Waterford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His family will receive friends Thursday, February 7th from 6-8 P.M. at the Mystic Funeral Home Route 1 Mystic. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church 69 Groton Long Point Rd. Groton. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery Route 27 Mystic.
