Sophie Brodeur Obituary

Sophie Lucille Brodeur June 9, 1925 - June 16, 2013 Plainfield - Sophie Lucille Brodeur, 88, of Moosup and beloved wife of the late Dona A. Brodeur passed away peacefully on Sunday surrounded by her family at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She was born June 9, 1925 in Moosup, a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Libera) Wrobel, and had been a lifelong resident of the community. Mrs. Brodeur worked as secretary and bookkeeper with her late husband in the operation of Brodeur's Oil in Moosup. Mrs. Brodeur was a communicant of All Hallows Church in Moosup. She leaves the following people behind: a daughter, Lynda M. Lombardi of Groton Long Point; a son-in-law, John Young of Moosup; five grandchildren - Jennifer L. Brooks, Michael S. Lombardi, Steven R. Lombardi, Joseph G. Lombardi, and Katelyn Young; her two great-grandchildren Pierce Allen Brooks and Emily Marie Brooks; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Cynthia Young, her two brothers Walter and Julian Wrobel, and her four sisters Josephine Streit, Olga Zajak, Helen Zarzecki, and Mary Wrobel. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 5, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at All Hallows Church, Moosup. Burial will follow at All Hallows Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home in Plainfield has been entrusted with arrangements.
