Virginia Amburn January 6, 1928 - March 13, 2013 Groton - Virginia Amburn, 95, formely of Groton passed away March 13, 2013 at the Bayview in Waterford. She was born on January 6, 1928 in Norwich, the daughter of William and Gertrude Amburn. A graduate of NFA in 1946 and Connecticut College for Women in 1950, she spent most of her adult life after college in New York City where she lived a renaissance life. During her time there Ginny traveled to Europe several times in addition to developing a love for music, art and poetry. Ginny worked for the Episcopal Diocese of New York as a confidential secretary to Bishops Moore and Meyers. In the early 1970's Ginny retired and returned to Norwich to care for her mother whose health was failing. She moved to Groton in the1990's, and has been a resident of Bayview Healthcare for the past 6 years. She is survived by her cousins Martha Reichard and Viola Oliver of Groton. Memorial Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday at the St. James Church, 95 Rt. 2A in Preston. Her burial will follow privately in the Hanover Cemetery in Sprague.
