Andrew Barylski Obituary

Andrew Barylski August 16, 1919 - December 18, 2010 Putnam Andrew Barylski, 94, of Putnam, died Saturday December 18, 2010 at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. Husband of the late Jeannette (St. Germain) Barylski, she died in 1998. He was born August 16, 1919 in Newmarket, NH. He had made his home in Putnam and Thompson areas most of his life, a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation. He was a Veteran of WWII serving with the US Army, he received an honorable discharge June 22, 1945 and is a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was employed at Parizek Button Shop, Belding Hemingway and other Textile and manufacturing mills in the area. He was a past commander and life member of Mayotte-Viens Post 13 of The American Legion and Albert J. Breault Veterans of Foreign Wars # 1523 both of Putnam; he was also a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Over the last twenty years Mr. Barylski has appeared in the VJ Day and the Memorial Day Parades as a Pearl Harbor survivor, his colorful attire has been caught by the cameras of the newspapers for several years. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends.He leaves his children: Andrew Barylski and his wife Rita of Putnam; Linda March and her husband John of Windsor, CT; Gloria Ghirarduzzi and her husband Aldo of Glenns Falls, NY, six grand children and seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Anthony and John. Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Calling Hours Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam, CT. To share a memory with his family, "Light a Candle" at www.smithandwalkerfh.com

To my Friend Linda and her Family;

I am sorry for the passing of Andrew. Whenever I met him at any occasion for you and your family he was a a delighful man. May he rest in peace and may all of you find comfort in all your friends. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
