CAROL (BURDICK) MARKS 1940 - 2018
CANTERBURY - Carol Marks (Burdick), 77, of Canterbury, passed away on June 10, 2018 in Norwich, following a brief and sudden illness.
Carol was born to Walter and Olive Burdick on September 14, 1940. She grew up in Franklin, and attended NFA. She was proud to be a Majorette in the marching band in high school. Carol married James Marks, Jr. of Latrobe, Pennsylvania on May 23, 1970. She worked as a clerk for the Thermos for several years, before taking a position at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Willimantic. Carol then became a stay at home mom to her daughter, Rebecca, for several years. She eventually returned to work at the Department of Motor Vehicles in New London, and eventually in Norwich until her retirement. Carol enjoyed dancing, music, visiting with close friends, gardening, traveling with her husband Jim, and spending time with family. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, having first attended Grace Church, Yantic, and later the Church of the Resurrection, Norwich. Most recently Carol attended Christ Church, Norwich.
Carol is preceded in death this past fall by her sister, Mary Burdick, and previously by her mother and father, Walter and Olive Burdick, her parents-in-law James and Mae Marks, Sr., and her brother-in-law Richard Marks.
Carol is survived by her husband James, her daughter Rebecca Campbell, her husband Donald and her grandchildren Lillian and Andrew.
Calling hours will be 6-8 pm. Friday, June 15 at Leffler Funeral Home, Jewett City. Funeral services will be held at 10am Saturday, June 16 at Christ Church, Washington Street, Norwich. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Central Village. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The , The , or the ARC of New London County.
