Catherine Constantinou Obituary
Catherine Constantinou November 1, 1917 - July 17, 2014 NORWICH - Catherine Constantinou, formerly of 3 Coolidge Ct., Norwich, passed away on Thursday July 17, 2014. She was born November 1, 1917, in New London, daughter of Theologus and Avanthea (Kozinos) Constantine. She married Theodore Constantinou on February 24, 1946. During World War II she was employed at the Babcock Printing Press Co. in New London. She later owned and managed Alexander's Luncheonette in Franklin Square with her husband. Catherine's last places of employment were the Niantic Correctional Institute and Westgate Cleaners. While living in New London she was an active member of Saint Sophia Helenic Orthodox Church and was one of the original members of its choir. Catherine was also a charter member of the Daughters of Penelope chapter in New London. Upon relocating to Norwich with her family, she became a member of Holy Trinity Church, served on the church council, was a Sunday School teacher and an active member of the choir. She was a charter member of the Philoptochos chapter, past president of the Daughters of Penelope and past president of the Fifty Pus Club. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Elaine & Kent Kirkpatrick of Norwich, a daughter Marie Constantinou of Norwich, grandson David Kirkpatrick, his wife Aimee and daughter Isana of Novato, CA, grandson Matthew Kirkpatrick of Broomfield, CO, and several nieces and nephews. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Ted, her sister Koula LaBrie of Waterford, brother Kosta Constantine of Bristol, Arthur Constantine of Greenwich and Thomas Constantine of Niantic. At 10:00 A.M., Monday July 21, 2014, a viewing will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 247 Washington St., Norwich prior to the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Tpke., Norwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 247 Washington St., Norwich, 06360.
