Czeslawa Stankiewicz Obituary
Czeslawa Stankiewicz December 4, 1935 - August 29, 2013 Norwich - Czeslawa "Chessie" Stankiewicz, 77, a resident of Norwich, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on August 29, 2013. She was born in Laz, Poland on December 4, 1935. She married Kazimierz (Charlie) Stankiewicz on June 7, 1959, in Sosnowek, Poland; they were married 54 years. Since arriving in Norwich in 1962, Czeslawa worked at several local companies, including the former Ponemah Mills in Taftville, The Thermos Corporation, also in Taftville, and most recently at Plas-Pak Industries in Norwich. The definition of strength and resiliency, Czeslawa's journey was marked by a strong religious faith, the love of her family and many friends, and a steadfast spirit. She fought, and survived a stage four cancer diagnosis for nearly 15 years during which time she shared many special moments and occasions with her family. She leaves behind her husband, Kazimierz, of Norwich; a daughter, Alina and her husband Adam, of Deep River; a son, Jerry, and his wife Kathleen, of Amherst, NH; a grandson, Ryan, of Amherst, NH; a granddaughter, Hannah, of Deep River. She also leaves behind two sisters, Marisa and Wadyslawa, a brother, Henryk, all of Laz, Poland, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son, Kazimierz, who died in infancy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, August 31 at St. Joseph Church in Norwich, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 30, from 6-8 P.M., at Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave., in Norwich.
