Dolores A. Viens Died - Dec. 14, 2015 UNCASVILLE - Dolores A. Viens, 81, entered eternal rest within the arms of her family and the Lord's presence on Monday, Dec. 14th. She was born in Norwich to the late Roy & Rose Menders, she was predeceased by her brother Roy Menders and sister; Elaine Thoma. On Feb. 11, 1956 she was wed to her soul mate, Normand Viens at St. Mary Church in Greenville, CT. Normand survives her. Together, with their children they made their home in Uncasville, CT. Dolores was a beautiful woman beginning in her teens and was selected "Teen Queen" of the USA in 1953 at the age of 19. She received a Bermuda vacation accompanied by her sister Shirley, where they enjoyed touring the island, meeting celebrities, and stayed at the Elbow Beach Club. Dolores worked as a telephone operator a modeled for the late photographer Rene Dugas Sr., whose picture is used for this obit. She was fashionable throughout her life, carrying herself with pride, dignity and was always beautiful. Dolores was fond of the beach, particularly Esker Point where she enjoyed time at the shore from her childhood with her parents and many family generations through the summer of 2015. Dolores loved everyone and had a great sense of humor, she loved to laugh and to get others to join in. She enjoyed beach vacations with her husband and sitting by the ocean. She loved her good friends Stella S., Mable S. and Linda D. She was a lady among ladies, kind to all, tender and caring mother and devoted wife. Dolores is also survived by; her daughter, Cheryl Viens and, son, Scott Viens, her sister Shirley Courtney, sister- in- law Claire Menders, several wonderful Godchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Mass will be held on Monday, Dec. 19th at 11am at St. Mary Church our Lady of the Rosary, 34 N. Main St., Jewett City, CT. Dolores loved sending Christmas cards to all of her loved ones and would want to extend a Merry Christmas to all!
