EARL DONALD QUAYLE 1931 - 2018
BROOKLYN - Earl Donald Quayle, 87, a resident of Brooklyn, CT, died Thursday evening May 10, 2018 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT. He was born in Ishpeming, MI on April 20, 1931 to the late George T. Quayle, Sr. and Clarice (Haupt) Quayle. He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School class of 1950. Following his graduation Earl enlisted in the US Navy and served our country proudly during the Korean War in the submarine division on the USS Becuna, fondly referred to as "Battling Becky". Following his honorable discharge from the US Navy, Earl was employed by the Southern New England Telephone Company from 1955 working his way through the ranks retiring as a Forman of Cable Repair East in 1987.
Earl was a 50 year member of the Niantic Mason Lodge 31, a 50 year member of the Danielson Elks Lodge 1706, a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and a Communicant at St. James Church in Danielson, CT. He will be remembered fondly by his nephew Wayne Enlund who he took in as a child along with his brother Earl Enlund. He made it his life's work to help and care for Wayne as he battles Cerebral Palsy offering him every opportunity to move forward in his life. Earl was totally dedicated to his family and lived by the quote "Give from your heart and expect nothing in return". Earl is survived by his nieces and nephews Wayne Enlund of Brooklyn, CT, Anna Quayle and husband Joe of MI, George F. Quayle and his wife Carol of Oregon, Bryan Quayle and his wife Christine of Idaho, Gene Enlund of CA, Diana Enlund of CA, along with many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life Rose (Sostak) Quayle in 2010 after just shy of 57 years of marriage, as well as his brother George T. Quayle, Jr. who passed in 2015 and nephew Earl Enlund who passed in 1984. Family and friends may call on Tuesday May 15, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950, followed by his Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 11:30, followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery.
