Through his tireless efforts, his business grew to include: Bellavance Construction, Bellavance Truck and Equipment Sales, and Bellavance Cord Wood, (a favorite of his). He also branched out to selling cars and real estate. All his endeavors earning him the well known nickname "Honest John", which suited him perfectly. Until recently, John was a lifelong resident of Moosup. He purchased and proudly restored the Brunswick Mill on North Main Street, which housed his business for many years. John's motto was to "Dream Big", which he did. He was a tireless worker and lived life to the fullest. John "The King of One-Liners" spent his weekends in Newport, Rhode Island; biking, boating and enjoying the downtown area. John made his home with, and is survived by The Love of His Life Christine Silveira of Plainfield, who lovingly and diligently cared for him during his difficult battle with his illness. His dogs; Jack and Ranger, who were a great joy to him, loved deeply by him, and both had unique personalities just like their master. He was predeceased by his sister, Colleen Bellavance. John is also survived and will be greatly missed by his cousin and life long friend Craig Gates, their special bond never broken, spending endless hours working, talking about working, and just enjoying life together. John leaves no children of his own, but does leave a very special cousin, Denton (Denny) Gates, whom he treated and loved as his own son. John loved living in Moosup and leaves behind many friends. He was a member of the Willimantic BPOE Lodge and the Snakemeadow Club in Moosup. The family thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers over these difficult eight months. A special thank you to Backus Hospital and Dr. Yang for their tireless efforts and support. Heartfelt Thanks to all those who helped with the bone marrow drives, giving endless encouragement, hard work and loyalty; and the thousands who participated hoping against hope to find a match. John fought very hard and found strength in the support he received from friends, relatives and members of his community. He fought until the very end.
